My sister-in-law suggested that my claim that Christians take glee in the damnation of others is a harsh and misleading. She even apologized for their misconduct. She didn’t need to apologize as her conduct alone is such a positive model for Christian ideals, but that’s another story.
I don’t actually think Christian’s take glee in the eternal damnation of non-believers (well, maybe a few, but I’m sure the big G is onto them). I was aware of that interpretation of my words, it’s not what I was trying to convey.
I was trying to say that those damned to Hell shouldn’t be persecuted on Earth as well (is there such a thing as spiritual “double jepardy”). I chose a confrontational attitude and will again. Why? Well, I could say that I’m so rusty in my writing and shaky in my opinions that I am trying to overcompensate with feigned bravado and rhetoric; or that I have some prejudices against the religious because of my own issues; or that I was trying to get someone to write a response by being a dick; or that I really am one; or all of the above.
The gremlin on my shoulder says the smart money says I’m just a dick.
